Do you work at the cat place? I wish I lived in the area. If someone lived far away, would you be able to help them find an organization similar to angelliclecats? When I can get a pet (sadly I live in a dorm) I'd like to adopt, but I don't really know much about the process (aside from the website you linked to)

I volunteer for them—no one is paid in cat rescue (see the ask below this one). What city are you in? There’s cat (and all animal) rescues in need of volunteers, fosters, and adopters everywhere! I can help you find a place in your city.

How did you get into rescue and do you have a job other than this? I was just wondering because of my own life situation and what i want to do with my life.

I started just as a volunteer cleaning cages/playing w cats at Petco locations a couple years ago. No one in animal rescue gets paid, not even the head of our organization or people who put in 40+ hours a week. I’m currently a full-time student going into clinical child & adolescent psychology.

There are paid jobs that revolve around rescue work, but they’re rather specific, and the ones where you actually work hands-on with animals are far and few. Of course, there’s being a vet. Then there’s larger-scale workers for the SPCA, etc, who work on criminal cases and seizing animals from abusive situations. Then there’s rehabilitation work, but I know very few people who are paid for that, though it is possible. There’s also general animal behaviorist work, but focusing on companion animals is not common. There are certainly many jobs within orgs like SPCA/Humane Society, but many of them are not hands-on with the animals, have low pay, and are rather menial.
